About Crohn's & Colitis
An estimated one million people suffer from Crohn's desease or ulcerative colitis. Collectively known as inflamatory bowel disease (IBD), these digestive disorders cause severe-inflammation of the intestinal tract.
Unfortunately, the cause of IBD remains unknown and the cure, undiscovered.
From the Voices of Our Kids
"Sometimes I feel different because I have a disease. Sometimes it makes me get upset and mad. I feel like I have a secret from all my friends that I can't tell. Sometimes I worry about emergencies and back down from things for fear of them. I just want to be me."
- Josh, age 12
"It's hard going back to school 'cause I've been out for so long. I tell people and they don't know what it is and they don't understand and they don't know all the meds and how they make your cheeks fat.
I felt like a drug commercial and they said I looked like a chipmunk. You don't know the embarrasment of going to the bathroom 50 thousand times a day"
- Callie, age 14
